The Everton mascot is an elephant (Mr Chang) and as everyone knows they have amazing memories but even he can’t remember the last time Everton won anything. Perhaps I can help it was the FA Cup some 25 years ago now. They also have another mascot called Mr Toffee but like Everton he has been going through a bit of a sticky patch lately.

As an extra reminder here is a picture of the Everton trophy cabinet covering all of their achievements over the past quarter of a century.

Seriously though, I think Carlo Ancelotti is an excellent appointment for Everton and will do well if he is allowed to get on with the job and is backed a bit in the transfer market. I can imagine a team with some experienced players, a few quality players and some youngsters which could do really well if not this year then next. I think they could well be a top 6 team and with Utd, Arsenal, Chelsea and Spurs all with work to do they could snatch a top 4 place even allowing for Pickering who remains a weak link in my humble opinion. Anyway , that’s for next season. This time round it is the FA Cup and I feel they will field their strongest side but that we will play some fringe players and youngsters to include Adrian, Elliot, Lallana, Mini, Origi, Jones, Phillips and Berg. This could make for an exciting and high scoring game and I wouldn’t like to predict the final score. With bigger fish to fry though, I will not be too disappointed if we do go out as long as the youngsters show some promise especially Elliot 16 (shades of Twistadee11)

The match starts at one minute past 4 with the extra minute used to highlight mental health problems which will likely affect all of us or at least someone from our close family and friends over the course of our lives.
