Leicester vs Liverpool

Next up is Leicester. How that can be pronounced Lester must confuse the hell out of our friends from over the pond. I cannot possibly defend our spelling in this case especially when we also have many other ludicrous examples of the way words are spelt and how they are pronounced such as: Queue/Q; Choir/Kwire; Magdalin/Maudlin; Manu/Shit’ole.

Where I can blame them though is the way they  insist upon just using completely the wrong word such as cookie/biscuits; candy/sweets; chips/crisps; French fries/chips; and finally Donald Trump/The Messiah, It took a few goes before I ended up with Messiah but at least I am the first to mention food in this thread. 😉 Then there is the way our entire forward line seems to upset them so much they refer to them as offensive. It’s a wonder we are able to communicate with each other at all 😉

Anyway, back to Leicester, also known by their nickname the Foxes. They used to be known as the fossils but dropped that because they were worried it might get set in stone (boom boom). The fossils came from the club’s original name Leicester Fosse after the Fosse Way (pronounced Foss, naturally) which is a famous Roman road linking Exeter with Lincoln and passing through Leicester.

Leicester’s form, like many other teams this season, has been up and down with some good wins but also some unexpected losses. They have recently beaten Southampton and Chelsea drawn with Everton and yet lost at home 1-3 to Leeds. Still, our form hasn’t been anything to write home about either, though with our injury record at least we have an excuse. Clearly. we are heading for a tough game but one that could well be described as “outstanding”…

I used to put the odd Shankly quote in earlier articles and not surprisingly they always went down well. Who would have thought that we’d be blessed with another self confessed great manager. Another communicator extraordinaire, famous for inspirational and humorous quotes that that people will be repeating for years to come. Yes I am, of course, referring to the one and only Brendan Rodgers.

“I use a quote with the players, ‘Per aspera ad astra’, which is Latin for ‘through adversity to the stars’.” This is clearly both inspirational and humorous……..for the opposition and unintentionally 😉

Well with no Fab for this game (and possibly a few more games too) the selection is difficult but I am going this way, assuming there are no other injuries Klopp is keeping to himself: Alisson, TAA. Kayak, Hendo, Robbo, Gini, Thiago, Jones, Mane, Firmino, Salah. If Klopp is brave he will also play Davies alongside Kayak at CB and push Hendo into midfield at the expense of Jones or even Gini.
