1982 Goodison Park-
Rush scored one
Rush scored two
Rush scored three
And Rush scored four

And no one except him again in 1986 scored a hattrick against Everton in a Red shirt until Steven Gerrard 2012, or had they?

As a young lad, 9th February 1991, I believe, along with the man himself, in a vociferous Kop crowd, I witnessed history with a derby hattrick. Whisper the name, David Speedie, he’s not one of Kenny’s finest signings, or was he? No, he wasn’t. But it doesn’t detract from the fact he should be credited with a derby hattrick.

I was in the Kop on 09/02/1991 and would absolutely stake my life on Jan Molby’s “goal” deflecting off Speedie’s calf. I was right behind it in the Kop as it flew in the Annie Rd end, going mental, probably shrieking in a manner that would have embarrassed fellow school girls & not caring. He definitely then slotted in the other two. Hilariously, to my underdeveloped 17 year old brain, he celebrated the first right in front of the blue noses. I genuinely believe his explanation though that it was because we’d moved the away end to the left of the Annie Road end, from the Kop view, from his last visit as an opposition player. Even if it wasn’t true, I still believe him, as he is painfully honest and I don’t care if it was a derby, I still find it funny.

The blues went fucken nuts and its is why I still hold a special place in my heart for David Speedie.
