Leeds United vs Liverpool

I always look forward to playing Leeds United as it takes me back to the game which started me on the road to a lifetime of supporting Liverpool. I refer, of course, to the 1965 FA Cup final which Liverpool won 2-1 and was the first football match to really capture my imagination. I can still remember being amazed and fascinated by the way the ball was worked forward and passed across the pitch as the reds surged forward in wave after wave crashing into the white of Leeds united. It is sad to reflect now though that almost half of that team are no longer with us but their memory lives on.

This season Leeds have had a stuttering start with an unlucky trouncing by Manu in their first game. It seems odd to call 5-1 unlucky but it might have been very different had they taken their early chances. They followed this with a draw with Everton where they were the better side and again a similar story in their draw with Burnley. They will be a challenge as they always are but they will also offer up some chances. So, if we are on our game, we should still prevail.

Team: The team picks itself which is no way to run football club but unless Klopp decides to ease some of the late returnees into the game as substitutes I would expect to see. Alisson, TAA, Matip, VVD, Robbo, Fab, Hendo, Thiago, Mane, Jota, Salah. Now I’ve written down the team I can see other possibilies with Elliott and Firmino (doh he’s injured) maybe starting in place of Thiago and Jota respectively.

Finally, I am pleased to report much better news about Matty’s Mum who we wish a speedy and full recovery. At the same time I am sure I speak for all of you in sending a special 4KK get well soon message to Gingerlahm who is feeling under the weather. Hopefully, she will be feeling better soon.
