Spurs v Liverpool

A new covid symptom to watch out for?

I don’t know if this game will go ahead or not, or even if it should, regardless of how many Liverpool players actually have covid. I know Klopp isn’t in favour of a break because he thinks covid will only start spreading again when the break ends. That is probably true but there are the crowds to consider and even though it’s an outdoor event, this omicron version is clearly much more transmittable than previous variants. I don’t want to see football without crowds again, but I don’t want football to be responsible for spreading covid, either. There will be enough extra spreading at Christmas anyway. Perhaps a couple of week’s break from football might help reduce the spread a little, at a time when hospitals will be under severe pressure after Christmas, as the effects of family gatherings filter through.

I realise I am in danger of getting a little political here and that in the past I also may have been guilty of being a little anti Tory. I want to apologise, as sincerely as Allegra and say that I am very sorry for any impression I might have given that Boris and his chums couldn’t organise a piss up in a brewery. They have proved me wrong and shown that is the one thing they are very definitely capable of organising….

Anyway, on to Spurs. They are well rested, having had a couple of matches cancelled, but that may not be a good thing for them. They will have lost momentum and their training will have been disrupted too. On the other hand, we will still still be without VVD, Fab and Jones. and maybe others. Whilst we have shown we have good cover for Curtis Jones’ absence, the loss of VVD and Fab from the spine of the side will potentially have a greater impact though we do have pretty good cover for them too. if we lose any more though it will be a major problem.

Team: Alisson, TAA, Matip, Konate, Robbo, Hendo, Ox, Keita, Mane, Firmino, Salah. I have dropped Thiago as I think he might be better coming on later. Preferably, when he has learnt when and where to try his flash moves 😉 I have also gone for Firmino over Jota again with Jota coming on later.
