It’s been a fantastic week for the club.  Beating city in the FA Cup semi-final & then thrashing the other set of mancs in midweek.  Two brilliant results & two cracking performances from the lads in red.  Liverpool – 2,   Manchester – 0.  But it wasn’t only on the pitch, that we gained a victory over those two clubs.

City fans aren’t the first to boo during a Hillsborough memorial, but they did it during a ‘showpiece’ occasion, beamed to TV sets all over the world.  The world was watching & the world was judging & rightly so.

Then, we have the other lot.   Outside of the team’s performance that night, the main media focus has been on the minute’s applause for Christiano Ronaldo & his family.  Ronaldo has spoken out himself about this & has thanked Liverpool fans profusely on social media.  Nice touch Ronny lad.

And lo & behold, we’ve got the Hillsborough chants after the game & more dancing on the graves of the people who died, as a result of going to a football match.   I’d like to say what I think about these people from both sets of fans, but you can probably guess most of it anyway & this isn’t really what this is all about.

This week, Liverpool fans have shown the world what they’re really like & whether that changes any opinions or not, I don’t know & I don’t really give a sh!t either.  But what I do care about, is that our supporters all over the world, can hold their heads up high with pride, at what our match going supporters have achieved this week.  All the chatter you hear about us being ‘better than everybody else’, being ‘different’….well it’s all true & we’ve proven that this week.

All you folks on here, who ‘get’ this club & have allied themselves with it & taken on board the long standing philosophies that the club, the city & the supporters hold dear…..  You’ve made the right choice.  And I firmly believe, that in attracting people who are eager to take the club to heart, then we attract just the kind of people that we want to attract.   Proper supporters, wherever on the planet they may be. Every single one of them holding their heads up high.

Jerry summed it up for me, earlier in the week….

β€œThe best response is our fans current response which is not to respond in kind… Fans of other Clubs will be seeing the same news about the FA semi vs our reaction to Christiano’s sad news as an example and the humane amongst them will understand the difference and respect us for it.. Those that aren’t will likely never change but they can be marginalised and practically ostracised by their own with contempt. We are being the better fan and it’s humbling..”
