Liverpool v Union SG.

After the shambolic performance from the officials over the weekend we return to European football, with thankfully no PL officials anywhere near the place.

Tonight we welcome Royale Union Saint-Gilloise from Belgium. Formed in 1897 they play in front of 9,400 supporters, if they all turn up at the same time. Obviously.

They’ve won the Belgium league 11 times which is 4 more than Cheats and 2 more than the BlueShite. There’s no evidence of them cheating their way to titles either. They’re also top of the league after 9 games.

By our standards they’re a small club, not quite as small as our noisy neighbours but they are pretty small. I’m sure their fans will have a fantastic time in Liverpool which will be the first ever meeting between the clubs. Union SG will be our 136th different European opponent.

Back in 2015 they were playing in the Belgian 3rd tier but soon rose to the top division a couple of seasons ago. I don’t know any of their players but I’m sure Oscar and Matty might. Cameron Puertas looks pretty decent and is their creative hub, 7 assists and 2 goals already this season.

The match won’t be a walk in the park but I do hope we score a hat full on the pitch. The atmosphere will be fantastic, soaked up by our guests from over the sea. Let’s hope the traveling fans enjoy themselves and return home with a smile on their faces after a severe pummeling from the Reds.

Can we win this trophy come the end of the season? Let’s win it for the hell of it.

We are LIVERPOOL and Fook the Rest!
