Liverpool v Nottingham Forest
I have a soft(ish) spot for Forest after we beat them 5-0 in the 1987/8 season in what was and still is for me one of the best performances ever from a Liverpool team. Forest under Brian Clough was our big rival at that time and their players fancied their chances against us but were absolutely blown away in a game that put them firmly in their place.
The video below looks a bit dated now but you need to remember they used to have to mow and roll the pitches in them days not just give them a quick iron. Also, it’s all relative. as I said above, at the time Forest were pushing us as our key rivals and we’d already played them recently a couple of times in much closer games. It would be a bit like us suddenly trouncing City if you like…. Barnes was at his best too….
I am not necessarily expecting a similar outcome this time, but…..
I think Klopp will start strong with a team something like this: Alisson, TAA, Konate, VVD, Tsimikas, MacAllister, Szoboszlai, Gravenberch, Jota. Nunez, Salah. (It seems Diaz is unlikely to be available as his parents were kidnapped last night and although his mother has been freed his Dad is still being held. Hopefully, though there will be a good outcome)
