Ajax vs Liverpool
Well we’ve just got to get on with things now. Whilst VVD will be a big loss to the side we still have great quality in every position (except maybe goalkeeper;-)) and no team will be looking forward to facing us.
When people talk of Ajax they remember the great footballing sides of the 70s and what became known as complete football and of course they think of Johan Cruyff who was famous for the Lallana turn. Cruyff pictured below practising being Adam.
The good thing from Liverpool’s perspective, given the current problems at CB, is that Ajax are a good footballing side and will not be happy merely flinging the ball high into the penalty area. This could well suit the Gomez /Fab partnership who will be happier defending on the ground. Also because they are an attacking side Ajax will be vulnerable to our speed on the counter. Despite our current problems in defence I am quietly confident we can still get off to a good start in this year’s Champions League.
