Appreciating greatness part II

Just… wow. You think this team can’t take you to greater heights and then they serve this up, having played City twice and a CL quarter final in the past 10 days…

Before I get into the footy though, I just want to give a shout-out to our fans, who held a minutes applause for Ronaldo’s loss after 7 minutes and a rendition of You’ll never walk alone followed. For a player who’s up there with the most disliked in the world for LFC fans. City take note. This is how true fans behave. Rivalry but respect.

Anyway, on to the footy. Let’s start with the obvious – Thiago. I mentioned when we signed him that I hadn’t been so excited by a signing since Torres, there were the doubters (Stu 🧐) but I’ve craved this type of midfielder for years (ask Orme) and I knew we’d got the best in the business when he signed IF he could stay fit and it’s fair to say he’s had this issues in that regard. When fit and firing however, the guy’s in a league of his own. He had his slippers on in the first half and completely dominated the game with his passes and controlling the pace of the game. An absolute maestro and United had no answer to him. Brilliant player and despite the goal scoring exploits of our forwards, Thiago is this week’s McMOTM.

Talking of our forwards… Luis Diaz, take a bow son. No occasion or opposition fazes him, a goal and an assist and just a general nightmare for the opposition. Can you imagine how good he’ll be with a full preseason as well as this 6 months behind him? Opposition defenders will be having sleepless nights.
Mane is like a different player since AFCON, brimming with confidence and both his finish for his goal and his assist for Salah were of the highest quality, he truly has found the peak of his powers once more and thank god Salah got himself back in the scoresheet, hopefully normal service can resume for him now in the final few games.

I’ve said it so many times this season but what a time it is to be a Liverpool fan. We have the greatest manager in the world and not only that, he might just be the best human being in the world as well, a team that is both excellent but also loveable, unlike Jose’s c*nts who dominated the noughties, or Roy Keane and his exploits before them. A team that is brilliant but also fair minded and play the game in the right way. The connection with the fans that the team and manager have… Can you feel anything other than your heart bursting with pride for this team of ours? Of OURS!! As Klopp makes sure the team know.

I’m in danger of going off on a Soop/Red/Stu style ramble so I’ll sign off now but I’ll leave you with this… Liverpool (9)4 v 0(0) Man United

Walk on!!
