The “fact of the matter” is that until now the 4KK prediction league forecasting has relied upon great skill and knowledge as teams have been battling for qualification. In such circumstances the cream of the forecasters tend to rise to the top of the table. Now things start to get more interesting as teams that have already qualified rest players, try new things or even manage results to put out another team they would otherwise see as a threat to win the competition. Scotland beware 😉
Anyway, today we have Italy v Wales and Turkey v Switzerland both at 17-00. You could make a case that none of these teams have anything to play for now other than pride. Only Switzerland have an outside chance to upset the apple cart but that would require a big and unlikely turnaround in goal difference. Or am I just saying that?…..
A little bonus article now from Mike:
Now, I blame all of you for my anger and disappointment after the BIGGY Friday night. Previously, I was never excited about the prospect of watching England play and could not care less whether they won or lost apart from a passing curiosity. I am not a nationalistic person….honestly Jock….if they did well then it was pleasing but more often than not it was the opposite and that would not bother me either. Personally, I just find Internationals a pain in the arse because it disrupts my season and always seems to cause injuries to my overplayed club players which is especially galling when it comes to those pointless friendlies. What is the point of them? The players are not committed, fear unwanted injury, avoid contact tackling and treat them as training matches, which they are I suppose. What does the manager actually learn from them though. Unless a player is giving 100% how to you gauge his worth to the side. Sorry I digressed.
I began by saying I blame you all but the blame is not with you its the power of the 4KK site. The interaction that happens between us all is like a runaway train, it carries us all along and before you know it we arrive at a place never expected and usually far from the original subject matter.
That is what happened to me last week. It began with the fun of the Euro predictor and thanks go to DB for setting it up for us but then I got carried along with the banter of the BIGGY. Jock with his obvious passion for his team and Scotland backed up by our resident Celts and us on the other side trying our hardest to counter the passion with some of our own. I found myself defending England and caught up in the fervour of the game. Crazy because truthfully I have always taken the same apathetic stance as Ataturk when it comes to the national team. What was even more maddening to me was the fact that I felt so angry after the match after watching such a poor show from, as Jock put it, multi-million pound players although not wholly criticising them, more the tactics of Southgate.
In this article I was going to enter an analysis of the game and why England will never win a tourney but I do not care enough whether they do or not so will revert to my usual position of distancing myself once again from the England team and just enjoy the Euro predictor. The sooner we get under way with the pre-season friendlies the better and the sooner I can divert my passion to the team that really matters to me and has for 60 years.
I love the 4KK site and I love the serious, the banter, the humour, the music and friendship this site brings to us all. Whether we pop in and out or stay for the afternoon, evening or day according to our geographical position on earth it does not matter there is something for everyone. Thanks to the boys for the vision they had when setting up. Its deservedly a huge success and long may it continue.
