Euro’s Matches 23-06-2021
G’day lads and lasses, yes we do have women popping in from time to time. They usually avoid me. No fooking idea why.
Four games to contend with today.
Sweden v Poland 5PM GMT.
Slovakia v Espania ( that’s Spain ) 5PM.
Germania v Hungary 8PM
Portugal v France 8PM.
All times are subject to GMT.
Couldn’t be arsed writing GMT after every friggin game.
Before I dissect the games with my usual anilytical expertise I’d like to give a shout out to Jock and Scotland.
Ok shout out given, now we move on.
The Euro’s format is pretty stupid.
Why have four teams placed 3rd in their group allowed to qualify?
I6 teams will progress, so why not have 8 groups of 4 were the top 2 from each group qualfy?
Guess what? There will still be 16 teams leaving the group stages. But it would be nice to allow 8 other Countries the chance to play in this minor tournament.
We have the Swedes, always nice with carrots against the Poles, I won’t digress.
Sweden top Group E with a win and a draw. They are already through because they can’t finish lower than 3rd.
I’ll tell ya why in a minute.
If Poland beat Sweden by 2 or more clear goals then they will qualify, even though at the minute they only have 1 point.
Remember two teams have finished their groups in 3rd place on 3 points. So any team in 3rd spot with 4 or more points qualify. Keeping up?
Then we have Slovakia v Spain.
Slovakia are 2nd with 3 points, Spain are 3rd with 2 points.
If Slovakia win then it’s goodnight Espania. Simples, right?
A draw or win for Spain would see them through. Slovakia would hope to not get beat by more than one goal.
On to group F.
This one is complicated too.
Hungary can still qualify. DB will be happy with that, but they must win their game against Germany. That will give them 4 points in total.
If France beat Portugal then Hungary will actually qualify in 2nd place.
There is still loads to play for in the last two groups to play today.
Try and predict them. I’m not doing great at it, but hey, it’s a lot of fun.
