FA Cup – Shrewsbury vs Liverpool Reserves
Shrewsbury Town play in League one or the third tier of English football. They are safely entrenched in the lower middle half of the table seemingly safe from relegation so they can focus fully on the FA Cup and the chance of a famous victory. I know you are already wondering if they have a mascot and I will not disappoint you because they do and he (or she) is called Lenny the Lion. I don’t know why they passed on a shrew.
Like Liverpool, Shrewsbury’s team is littered with Internationals but, whereas Liverpool have Brazilians and African Internationals, Shrewsbury have three Grenadians. However, where Liverpool might possibly lose three players for a crucial part of next season due to the AFCON, Shrewsbury too could lose three of their stars when Grenada compete in the Jamafican Cup of Nations.
There are a couple of notable citizens of Shrewsbury. The first is Charles Darwin who coined the phrase “survival of the fittest” the meaning of which will become only too apparent to Shrewsbury on Sunday evening. The second person of note is a good friend of Liverpool helping them reach the pinnacle of English football once more through his deliberate mismanagement of their greatest rivals Manchester United. I refer of course to David Moyes pictured below.
The difficult thing is to decide what team will face Shrewsbury given the injuries and need to rest players. Three players who won’t feature though are Milner, Mane and Shaqiri who are all still injured. Team: Adrian, Williams, Lovren, Matip, Larouci, Lallana Keita, Jones, Chirivella Elliot, Origi,
