Liverpool vs Aston Villa

It made me smile to hear Klopp’s comments after the Real game when he blamed the Referee, the pitch, the weather, the tea lady and of course, Naby Keita. In the cold light of day, it is comical and even a bit embarrassing, but it’s also human and as a bad loser myself (pesky cheating 5 year olds) I quite like the fact that he behaves that way when he loses too 😉

It will be interesting to see how Thiago reacts to being dropped from the starting lineout against Real Madrid and how Keita reacts to being subbed off before halftime. Assuming, of course, he even gets the chance again, which I doubt. I am sure though that Klopp is over all that now and is focussing on what he and the team needs to do to achieve and win over the Vila and make another step towards securing a top 4 slot.

Aston Villa is an odd name for a football club but at least is stands out from the more humdrum Citys and Uniteds. The club like so many British clubs has it’s roots in the Church and their cricket clubs and took its name from Aston in the Midlands and an old Georgian Villa next to the ground. Presumably, the younger cricketing members of the congregation wanted a more active and exciting game. They expected more from sport than their older colleagues (no names, John) who were content to have their customary afternoon nap safe in the knowledge that when they woke up for tea they wouldn’t have actually missed much, even if the rain had momentarily stopped.

Grealish is out for Villa but as far as I am aware we have no new injuries so my team would be: Freddy, Bungle, Kayak, Phillips, Rambo, Fab, Thiago, Mane, Firmino, Jota , Shellfish.
