Liverpool vs Everton
I have always found when approaching the Merseyside derby that you can’t go far wrong with some Bill Shankly quotes to get people in the right mood. In the picture above the great man is demonstrating the following quote “If Everton were playing down the bottom of my back garden I’d draw the curtains”. Here are a few more:
“When I’ve got nothing better to do I look down the League table to see how Everton are getting along.”
“The difference between the Queen Mary and Everton is that Everton carry more passengers.”
(To Alan Ball who had just signed for Everton) “Never mind Alan at least you’ll be able to play alongside a great team.”
And when discussing Liverpool and Everton he said: “This City has two great teams; Liverpool…… and Liverpool reserves.”
Ok on to the match now. In yet another 4KK first I have managed to gain exclusive access to the Everton trophy room (pictured above).
It is worth noting here that Everton no longer have a mascot. Their last mascot was Mr Chang who is an elephant and as everyone knows they are famed for their long memories. It is understood that he was sacked when he confessed that he couldn’t remember the last time Everton won a major trophy. For the record it was only 26 years ago. 😉
I expect the team will be the same as Leipzig, with Hendo at CB, even though Davies is available and Keita is fit again. It is also understood that Fab, Jota and Milner are all closing in on a return, but not just yet. Team: Alisson, TAA, Kayak, Hendo, Rambo, Gini, Jones, Alcantara, Mane, Firmino, Salah.
The other thing is we must not allow ourselves to get dragged into a war. We are better than them and that is how we will win. To quote another famous person. “We are Liverpool. It’s what we do!”.
