Napoli v Liverpool

Naples – Famed for its port, pizza and being a hotbed of mafia activity. Napoli – famed for Diego Maradona and… well that’s about it. Oh and their bottom stabbing fans.

To that end, this match thread will also come with a health warning for anyone daring to make the trip to Naples. To avoid getting stabbed in the arse, stick two magazines down the back of your trousers whilst travelling to and from the game, to foil the arse stabbers plot.

Anyway, enough about them. Klopp has some big selection decisions. Does Matip come back into the team? Does he risk throwing Thiago straight back into action after a month out?

Personally I don’t think we need to risk any of our recently returned players so I suspect to see Robbo come back into the back four and it otherwise remain unchanged from Saturday.

I also think we should start the game with Bobby. He’s our most in form forward at the moment and I feel we’ll get more of a foothold in the game by starting Bobby and bringing Darwin on second half.

To that end my team would be as follow…

Alisson, TAA, Gomez, Virgil, Robbo, Fabinho, Milner, Elliot, Salah, Firmino, Diaz

Like I said, get a foothold in the game and then get some minutes second half for Darwin, Jota, Thiago and Melo.

After a very mixed start to the season, we could really do with getting our CL campaign off to a good start and I’d really like to see a performance as much as a result. We’ve been so far off our level in recent weeks, I just want to see that intensity come back and the team getting more on the same wavelength. We’ve never managed to record a victory in Naples thus far in our history, now would be a good time to start. COME ON YOU REDS!!!
