Player ratings: Liverpool 1-0 Everton (Jan/06/20)

Due to the fact this is a new site/setup and not to mention I’m somewhat out of practice, I shall make this a short ratings thread. A lite version if you will. Anyway, without further ado…

Adrian (8.5) – Three top saves in the first half that kept us in the game. His signing on a free in the summer looks a very shrewd move every time he plays. Good solid backup.

Williams (8) – This kid looks a real livewire. He’s got pace and some wicked delivery. Looks a handful for the opposition. Very promising stuff.

Gomez (8) – A really top display from Joe. He’s rediscovered his form from the beginning of last season but it’s really encouraging to see him play like that without Virgil next to him. Led the defence and showed real quality throughout.

Phillips (7) – Nervy start but grew into the game. Won a couple of headers in the second half. Don’t see him playing for us long term though.

Milner (N/A) – Off injured within the first ten minutes. Hopefully won’t be out too long.

Chirivella (8) – Really impressive display from Pedro I thought as he dominated Everton’s midfield for the most part. Composed and not afraid to get stuck in. Worth a new contract?

Lallana (8) – Polarises fan opinion but has been impressive this season and was again last nights as he was everywhere, providing leadership, guidance and quality all over the pitch. Will likely move on this summer but should have another medal or two to take with him by then and he’ll have earned them.

Jones (9) – What to say about this kid. Scored an absolute worldie to win the game, that almost took the roof off the place. Goal aside he looks real quality and after he scored and his confidence soared, he started to dominate Everton. Is he ready to take Lallana’s place in the squad from next season? No doubt, man of the match.

Elliot (7.5) – Every time I watch this kid I’m impressed. Plays with a swagger that belies his tender years. Hard to believe he’s only 16 as he showed some really nice touches, passes and composure. This kid’s going to be a superstar if he can keep his head on straight.

Minamino (7) – A promising start for our new edition. Difficult game and team for him to make his debut but it’s easy to see why he’s been signed by us with his high pressing and intricate build up play. Should have scored with a free header but I doubt he was signed for his aerial prowess.

Origi (7) – Ran himself into the ground and forced Pickford into a fingertip save. Still think he should play centrally when he plays though.

Subs:

Larouci (7) – Came on for the stricken Milner after 8 minutes but got straight into the game and showed the kind of promise he displayed preseason. Quick, powerful and direct, I see no reason why he couldn’t be understudy to Robbo from next season, although a loan may be more beneficial for his development.

Ox (7) – Really good to see Ox back so soon, I suspected he’d be out for a good few weeks. Wasted no time in adding further pressure on Everton as he stung the palms of Pickford. Hopefully we can keep him fit until the end of the season as he’s an important part of our squad.

Brewster (N/A) – Back from injury.

Klopp-watch (10) – What else can you score your manager after he fields the kids against your local rivals and beats their first team?

Brilliant result then and keeps the momentum going. The positivity around the whole club right now is palpable and on the showings of some of our young players, the future looks bright too.
