Post Match Thoughts

Mike posted the following comment on the match thread earlier today and is happy for me to use it as the basis of a filler before Music night so that Disqus doesn’t collapse under the weight of matchday comments. What are your thoughts on the current state of our squad? You can tell from the picture that I particularly like the way the youngsters are getting an opportunity to shine.
“Always like to comment the day after to save knee jerk reactions. After a disjointed 30 mins mainly due to another different line up, which was necessary, we bagan to gel better and I began to feel more confident of the win.
Second half we began to control the game and in some way that was due to Neco who found confidence in himself and put in a good performance to negate being targeted as the young FB.. He is still raw but we can see potential there although in a different way to Trent. Morton did what he had to do without drama which shows an old head on young shoulders like Elliot. Very impressive.
Most pleasing performance for me was Ox who has built on the last couple of games and if can stay fit can offer a lot to the midfield. His passes are finding his teammates at last and his defending has improved dramatically. Like to think we have the Ox before the CL final injury back again.
Kostas needs to up his concentration levels. That’s where Robbo excels over him.
Was pleased to see Thiago’s goal which has been a long time coming and am expecting more in the future. Mane unlucky and Salah did what Salah does.
All in all a competent performance in which we quietly dispatched Porto without fuss. Its almost getting to the stage whereby we can field anyone in the line up and still win.”
