A simple question really in two parts. Should we be looking towards Steven Gerrard, one of our finest players ever, taking over at Anfield and if so what does he need to do at Aston Villa to prove himself?
I have mixed views. He has obvious advantages over other potential candidates knowing the club and being loved by the fans. But, but no matter how well he does at AV, I am not sure that will be enough to prepare him for Liverpool. He would have a really difficult job following Jurgen, as would anyone and it could easily end up going very sour as it did with Souness. On the other hand, if it did work out, it would be yet another fairy-tale story to add to the long line of improbably wonderful events in the history of Liverpool Football Club.
