Take a bow lads, you’ve done us proud

Right, I need to get this off my chest and then I won’t labour the point. Villa you cockteasing bastards!! Winning 2-0 for an hour and then capitulate in a 5 minute spell. Ah well, for long enough today the dream was on and perhaps if we’d taken the lead earlier, when City were still 2-0 down we could’ve cranked the pressure up on them but alas, it wasn’t to be.

I’m not going to be gloomy about it though. It’s been an incredible season, full of ups and downs but mostly ups. We’ve won the domestic cup double and have the chance to add a 7th European cup to complete a historic treble. How could you do anything other than celebrate this season?

The game itself then, I actually think the occasion got to us a bit. We were playing like there was 5 minutes to go from the first whistle, taking unnecessary risks and got off to the worst start. Konate with an error straight out the Dejan Lovren handbook, totally misread the flight of the ball and got under it and with one punt from the keeper and a square ball, we found ourselves 1-0 down. We put Wolves under serious pressure but they were dangerous on the break until a magical backheel assist from Thiago, allowed Mane to level things.

The one major negative of today is it looks like Thiago’s hamstring has gone and he’ll miss the CL final. He looked devastated when he went off and when sitting on the bench after. A huge blow for the team and the player himself, who has been in such sparkling form.

For so long today it seemed like the impossible dream could become reality but that’s the thing with this club, sometimes crazy stuff happens. It doesn’t always work out but that’s part of being a football fan.

Diaz (McMOTM) was sensational again today, the goals just aren’t flowing for him at the moment but that’ll come. I was pleased for Salah to get his goal and share the golden boot with Son and another Robbo masterclass to seal the victory 😁. Worth mentioning Alison also shared the Golden gloves with Ederson.

It’s a shame Origi was injured as I felt we could have both used him in the game itself but also to give him his send off on the pitch but it was nice to see him get it after the game.

All eyes now move to Paris next Saturday, the chance of revenge for Kyiv but more importantly, a 7th European cup and that cup treble. An accusation aimed at this group of players before the season started was that they hadn’t won enough trophies considering how good they are. Another is that they don’t take the domestic cups seriously. Well there’s both criticisms emphatically answered this season. No matter what happens next week, the lads have delivered an incredible season and I couldn’t be more proud of them. On to Paris for number 7. Walk on!!
