The 25 Part 1
AN ARTICLE BY DIMI
<This is something I touched on the last few days. I was telling the Lads that I believe , as the season has progressed we have The Best Squad in the League ATM . What’s even better to know and is music to everyone’s ears is that as of yesterday we have a fully FIT Squad of 25. Wow! At the right time of the season and we Bloody deserve that especially after the Nonsensical season we had last season with injuries.
Also, That Ali goal last season to get us into the CL and the arrival of Luis Diaz early, has to mean something, something more than just being 2nd best to City , it’s gotta be…..
As I started to write this I realised this is going to be a really long piece so I am going to break it down to 3 parts
- Forwards
- Midfield
- Defence
but I will start with the Midfield and then go onto the other 2.
- Jordan Henderson. Captain and Leader. Plays 8 and 6 and can also substitute as a CB or RB and play wing which we see in games. But it’s his Leadership that’s most valued, The Klopp on the field, berating, applauding, giving instructions. May not be the best or most talented but what he brings cannot be taken lightly.
- James-Fooking Milner. What a guy. What a 2nd Lieutenant . Mr. Professional, Leader, Adviser , which position on the field can’t he play? Great guy to have around for the youngsters to watch and learn from.
- Harvey Elliott. The Left footer of the group , Just 19 and playing for the biggest club. You have to be talented to do that especially to be in this squad. So unfortunate with that injury but he’s back, worked his socks off .Looking forward to a bright future.
- Curtis Jones- The Scouse of the lot. Exceptional talent , came through the Academy. Has a really bright future, just needs to get his confidence back, like Elliott needs game time especially in the U23’s. Bit nervous for him. Not had the best season.
- Alex Oxlade Chamberlain. This week 4 years ago scored that screamer against MC in the CL and now way down low in that pecking order. I feel for him, Outstanding talent , can play many roles but those injuries have really not helped him.
- Talking about injuries- Naby Keita. What a great performance last night. I was silently confident he would make the squad and play and boy didn’t he have a good game. Yes missed a couple of chances but his overall game has improved so much this season. What confidence can do for a Lad. Also playing a new role- The Gini as we all call it. Think this role will help him to stay injury free, where doesn’t overstretch like he used to. He’s cut that out a lot in his game, the muscles are too rigid when you do it and if you get a knock then you are likely to get injured more.
- Thiago- The Magician- Alcantara. So apparently he can’t play in a Liverpool team. At 30 he can’t adapt to the rigors of the PL….bla bla bla…..Who’s laughing now pundits? He’s beautifully adapted his game to us. That’s what talent does. You find new ways to deal with different problems. When he plays it’s like watching an artist perform. Long may he and Naby stay fit. For the 60/30 as I call it.
- Fabulous- Flako, Dyson, Lighthouse- whatever you wanna call him. For me he’s the last piece of the puzzle in our Success. The best 6 in the world. His Chemistry with Thiago. Wow. It’s like they’ve played together for 10 years.
Why the midfield? Well …If we take those 3 sections, Is the midfield our weakest? It could be argued that it is. But is it? These guys are so talented, each having their own set of skill but what’s wonderful about them is they are the defenders of the defence. The reason that our FB’s can bomb forward. No goals from the MF they say. Take a look at how many they’ve scored this season. The MF is evolving and sadly after this season we might see a departure or 2 but for now we enjoy them all. Stay fit Lads. That’s all I wish and hope. If Rotation is the name of the game then this lot need it the most.
Good luck Lads.
