We are Liverpool n…………..

This might turn out to be a ramble…..I’ve not decided yet.

It can be a crazy old world being a Liverpool supporter and it usually is, with lots of things going against us…..just because we are Liverpool.

From dodgy referees to openly referees that hate us and have admitted it…..to dodgy VAR decisions that stagger belief ( too many to mention ). But….we are who we are……we are Liverpool.

We were born in 1892 and had some success through those early days of football but we didn’t come of age til 1959 when a very special kind of fella walked through the door. You know who I mean.

It was Shanks that really got this party started and to this day we acknowledge, embrace and bow to his legacy….a legacy that was almost broken by non other than a legend on the pitch ( shite manager though ) Graeme Souness. He’ll be remembered as one of our finest players but he’ll be also remembered for being piss poor in the dugout.

The history of our club is huge, so many trophies going back to 1900….when Stu, Mike, Cust and John were mere children so they can no doubt verify all sorts of things.

Shankly brought us unpresidented success at the time he was here. We had never known such sustainability in our history as to what the great man brought to us. As you know ( you should do, I’ve said it often enough ) I was 9 years old ( 9 and a half, actually ) when he left n I was gutted……yes, gutted. Me brother n me chatted for ages about it n we both came to the conclusion we’re fooked……..

In walked Bob Paisley, Assistant Manager to Bill Shankly.

n he won jack shite in his first season. He didn’t even want the job but he took it anyway……our club continued to grow.

Success after success, trophy after trophy. We were in the promised land. Glory was ours, it was always meant to be because we are Liverpool.

Unfortunately he fooked off to into retirement. Selfish fooker 🙄.

Briskly moving forward ( forgetting the nineties ever existed ) we embraced a new beginning…..a new dawn.

( btw I’ve not forgotten about my beginning of Liverpool FC series, it will resurface during the next international break).

Through the door walked Jürgen Klopp. I actually wanted him as our manager even before Brenda was sacked.

Everything changed. Everything from our past was reborn. Jürgen got it straight away. We were essentially reborn due to this man.

The success he brought to us was unbelievable. The way he taught us to be believers and not doubters was incredible. The man will always be a legend for bringing this, our sleeping giant back to life and back to the top table of English, European and World football.

His success rate has been unparalleled since the 80’s n that’s a friggin long time but he brought us back to life in a era where money is God. He did it through sheer hard work, man management but most of all his unflappable charisma.

Through circumstances that are debatable he left for pastures new and then the media frenzy took full swing………Who would our next manager be? Will it be Alonso? Will it be Amorim? Will it be some random fella I’ve never heard of?

In walked a quiet, well spoken calm guy called Arne Slot.

N he got us, straight away he got us, just like Jürgen had.

This season isn’t going so badly is it? We’ll probably win the league and that my friends has ALWAYS been the one to win. Anything else is a bonus. Bonuses are always welcome but the league title has forever been our bread & butter.

I’ve mentioned before, several times n I still go on about it. In my head I can see so much similarities between Shanks and Paisley as I do between Klopp and Slot.

How do you good people think of it? Am I talking wham? Am I delusional? ( That’s not actually unusual with the meds I’m on 🤭 ). Are we back to the trophy Laden days of Paisley? We can but dream.

As a great man once said…….from doubters to believers.

We are LIVERPOOL, n fook the rest!
