It’s official. Our evolution is now in the hands of Darwin Nunez.
The questions though are will he compensate for the loss of Mane or even improve the team and will he be a better buy than Haaland? (who?). He will have to go some on all counts. Haaland, in particular, is a year younger and has already performed extremely well in a top league and at International level too.
The full answers to these questions will only become clear with time. One thing seems clear to me though is that FSG are very keen to impose wage controls but less concerned about transfer fees and agents’ fees. They may well be right as they have a much better commercial track record than I do, but will it come back to bite them as players (and agents) wise up? Again, the answer is the same. Only time will tell…
Sorry, for sounding a bum note when all you want to hear is a symphony of celebration. I really do hope my concerns are unfounded (they probably are) but don’t forget it’s evolution that has led to humans being top dog…..
